By the end of this course learners will understand the fundamental concepts of backflow and specific hazards related to it. They'll learn about the differences between the two causes of reverse flow, backpressure and backsiphonage–and be introduced to ways in which the water supply can be protected from contamination as a result of backflow. By the end of the course they’ll understand the differences in function and usage between non-testable backflow devices and testable backflow prevention assemblies. Learners will also be reminded that like other plumbing components backflow prevention devices are also subject to regulations and safety protocols.
