This course introduces the fundamentals of electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs) used in industrial power systems. You'll explore the purpose and structure of SLDs and how to interpret the common symbols and power flow depicted in them. The course emphasizes the practical application of SLDs for maintenance and technical roles with a focus on real-world activities such as navigating electrical systems, identifying key components, troubleshooting issues, and planning safe Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. You'll understand how SLDs differ from other detailed electrical drawings. Finally, you'll learn why accurate SLDs are important for ensuring operational safety; compliance with NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E, and OSHA standards; and for supporting effective maintenance strategies.
