This course introduces multi-location light control to expand your skills and knowledge of electrical circuits and diagnosing faults. The setting is inside a residential dining room that has two 3-way switches at two entries into the room, and one of those switches is also a dimmer. Three-way light switching involves connecting two ‘traveler’ wires between the two switches so that either switch can turn the lights on or off independently. The scenarios in this course involve diagnosing why the lights and the receptacles might not be working properly. In the course, you will face a variety of faults, such as travelers miswired to their switches, wires that have come loose from their terminals or that have damaged insulation that is causing a short circuit and circuit breaker tripping, and actual switch or receptacle damage that is preventing proper operation.
