HVAC/R technicians work in environments where air quality can change quickly and without warning. Some of these hazards are visible, but many are odorless, invisible, or concentrated in small spaces, making them easy to overlook. Respiratory protection is a critical part of staying safe on the job. When properly selected, fitted, and used, respirators help protect HVAC/R workers from both short-term symptoms and long-term health effects. This beginner video course will introduce HVAC/R technicians to common workplace hazards, types of respirators and their uses, and standards and practices for fit testing, user seal checks, and proper cleaning, maintenance, and storage of respirators. This course is based on CSA Z94.4-22, Canada€™s standard for respiratory protection.
