This course offers an introduction to the fundamental principles behind sanitary Drain-Waste-Vent (DWV) systems a network of piping that protects building occupants from sewer gasses and conveys waste through drainage to a private or public sewer. Major topics include basic DWV system design; an overview of system pipes and fittings; connected fixtures; waste conveyance through drains and traps; the necessity and design of proper ventilation; general DWV system maintenance tips; and common DWV system troubleshooting tests.
